Claire McCool

Palatebomb member Claire McCool is a local girl who has not only a love of drinking wine, but a thirst for sharing knowledge with new members of the wine community.   She started her wine education while working for Alexandria Nicole Cellars as an event coordinating intern last summer.  Thinking it would be more about events than wine, she was shocked when she was asked about wine and found out how little knowledge she really had.  Since then, she has kept her hand in the wine industry, working at different wineries and restaurants, keeping her education going.

Most interesting fact she has learned so far?  “98% of all commercially produced wine in the world is consumed within 1 week of purchase.  Guilty, very guilty!”

The way she looks at wine is that every taste is an experience, every glass an adventure, and every bottle is something new to learn.  “Tasting room attendants become my best friend everywhere I go.  I get to learn something new every time I go out and THAT is the best part about wine.”

When she isn’t nose deep into a glass of wine, you can find Claire fantasizing about her next trip, playing with the family dog, or being with friends.
