Prosser Wine & Food Fair
WSU Reaserch Station - Prosser, WA

2:00pm to 8:00pm
http://prosserchamber.org/index.php?option=com_events&task=view_detail&agid=18&year=2009&month=08&day=08&Itemid=113August 8th is one of the most insanely awesome wine events of the year. And by insanely awesome, I mean HUGE and super cool. Is that the same thing? No matter – just be there.
The 28th Annual Wine and Food fair will be kicking off just outside of the fabulous wine mecca of Prosser (about 25 min west of the Tri-Cities). The event will be held from 2 – 8 p.m. If you go (and why wouldn’t you?), expect more than 30 wineries from all over the area, breweries, live entertainment, 20 delicious food vendors, and 3,500 fellow wine enthusiasts from all over the Northwest.
Although this event is huge every year, 2009 will be remembered by me most because it is the first year the event has not been held in the stadium of the mighty Prosser Mustang’s football team. Because the event is for the 21-and-older crowd, concerned citizens of Prosser thought the school location was not the best fit. The idea has been to move the fair to the Walter Clore facility – when it is finished. Without a venue, worried wine lovers fretted that event planners wouldn’t be able to find a space large enough to host the event this year. But they did (and thank the Wine Gods!)
Washington State University’s research station in Prosser stepped up and will host the event. The new location will offer more shade for guests and prettier scenery (a rose garden – although roses are not in bloom right now – is still a heckuva lot prettier than metal stadium seating!)
Because parking at the facility is limited, Ben Franklin Transit has partnered with event planners to provide shuttles from downtown Prosser locations (Best Western, The Barn, Prosser Motel, Wine Country RV, Depot Parking Lot, the BF Transit bus stop, Prosser High School Stadium, and the parking lot across from Hogue Cellars – so no excuses that there is no parking!). If you take the bus, just know it’s $1.25 per person one way (or $3.50 for a group of three or more).
Tickets for the event are $20 (presale) and $25 (day of).
